The Government Gazette published yesterday at 5.00 pm notified that the amendments for the Land Titles (Strata) Act (LTSA), the law governing enbloc sale shall come into operation today. This caught many in the industry by surprise. Many have expected that the new law to be operational at least only by the middle of the month. There are more than 30 changes in the new law and this includes a provision to empower the Strata Titles Board (STB) to ignore technical flaws in approving a sale such as the missing pages found in the case for Horizon Towers. More information of the changes in the LTSA can be found in the PUBLICATONS of our website www.wisely98.com.sg. The hearing in the High Court for the enbloc sale of Horizon Towers ended yesterday. It is unknown whether the timing for the commencement of the amended LTSA has to do with the appeal for Horizon Towers which, if ruled in favour of the majority owners, may see the STB hearing the case again. Look out for this column again!
