The High Court today allowed the appeal filed by majority owners of Horizon Towers against the dismissal of the estate's collective sale application by the Strata Titles Board (STB) over a paperwork glitch. The High Court Judge Choo Han Teck, in allowing the appeal, held that the technical error which aborted the collective sale did not prejudice the minority owners. The judge ruled that the error in the application was of the kind that could have been corrected in a moment, without inconvenience or prejudice. This means that the STB will now have to hear objections from the minority owners who are against the en-bloc sale and to rule on whether the collective sale should proceed. It is expected that Allen & Gledhill, the lawyer acting for the buyer, a consortium led by the HPL Group may be allowed now to appear before the STB to defend the buyer's interest. The buyer's lawyer was denied a hearing at the last STB proceeding.
