Six pest control companies are reported to be among the first of the industry to be investigated by the Competition Commission for colluding on jobs to rid buildings of termites. The six are the only pest control companies here licensed to use one of about 10 chemical treatments against termites. The Competition Act stipulates that the fine could be up to 10 per cent of the company's annual turnover for each year of infringement up to three years. Many gave the thumb up and commended that it is time that the Commission take action to weed out anti-competition so that Singapore could be brought in line with the developed economies. There are about 200 pest control firms in Singapore.
