At the end of a two days of hearing into the death of Mr Arndt Starke, a German who was drown in the spa pool in his Goldenhill Park Condominium, the Coroner recorded this as a misadventure. The coroner said that he found no evidence of any deliberate criminal act nor criminal negligence on anyone's part.

There was an earlier incident some four months before, when a 12-year old boy was dragged underwater but he was pulled up in time by someone. The operator of the pool subsequently lowered the suction pressure.

It was unknown when the grates covering the drain pipe in the spa pool were broken. That was the main cause which contributed to the immense suction that held Mr Starke to the floor of the pool. The Coroner ruled that the broken grates played a significant role in Mr Starke's death, but there were 'uncertainties' over when they broke.

It is not known whether the family of the late Mr Starke would file an appeal against this verdict.
